Aiptek Hyperpen
Same problem using Aiptek's HyperPen 10000U. Though it worked perfectly in PS CS5, in CS6 I can't get pressure sensivity. I doubt the problem is driver related since when checking the Pen Tablet aplication in windows, pressure works flawlessly. The drivers I'm using are specific for win7x64 and I'm using PS x64. Typically, when you consider buying a pen tablet you look for a bundle that includes a graphic software application. But digitizer tablets are useful for much more than creation of artwork or retouching of digital images. One company, AIPTEK of Irvine CA, has rethought the bundle concept and provides a complete suite of applications designed to make the tablet a personal tool for computer and Internet use.
AIPTEK conceives of its HyperPen 6000 tablet as an 'Advanced Internet Peripheral' which includes cordless pen, cordless mouse puck, and a suite of five software applications. The goal is to provide an interface for security, navigation, input, and art creation.
AIPTEK's HyperPen 6000 breaks new ground by featuring an active area of 4.5' x 6'. This size falls nicely between the 6' x 8' and the 4' x 5' active areas currently offered by the most popular tablets. While one would not go so far as to call this size 'just right,' it certainly proved comfortable in use. You don't feel you've really lost anything from a larger-size tablet and it is certainly far superior to a 4' x 5' unit. The overall size and weight (a little over 12 oz) make it easy to hold on your arm or to rest on your lap.
Other nice features include an ergonomic palm rest and a groove to store the pen. The tablet specifies a maximum resolution of 3,048 lines per inch and supports 512 pen pressure levels. These specifications far exceed the needs of most users, but they allow excellent accuracy and the capture of subtleties of handwritten script.
Also included is a three-button puck that becomes a cordless mouse. The most exciting aspect of the mouse was its programmable pan and scroll modes that make it ideal for navigating large web pages and documents that don't fit completely on the screen. All you need to do is click a button and move the puck in the direction you want to scroll or pan. Motion continues until the appropriate key is clicked a second time. Since you don't have to use scroll bars, your cursor ends up positioned where you want it on the page without need for additional motion.
The HyperPen 6000 comes with the almost de facto standard Art Dabbler from MetaCreations for drawing, painting and animation. But there are also applications designed for everyday business use. First, there is Cadix Cyber-SIGN, which provides accurate signature verification for secure system activation. Next there are Advanced Recognition Technology's SmARTwriter and SmARTscribble for handwriting recognition and sketching. With the resolution of the tablet and programmable character recognition, handwriting recognition is elevated to a level of reliability suitable for rapid written input of text and characters. After a few moments, the system was able to discriminate among written characters for 1, i, l, (, and ). SmARTscribble can be used to create diagrams or personal handwritten notes which can be saved as bit map files and sent as attachments to e-mail messages.
The HyperPen 6000 with pen, puck, and software is targeted to sell at an introductory price of US$99.99. The value of the software alone works out to US$120, so the total bundle represents significant value over a top-of-the-line mouse. The tablet interfaces through the RS-232 serial port and draws its power via a pass-through connector for the keyboard. It does require standard batteries for the pen and puck, and is compatible with Windows 3.1, 95, and NT.

Overall, AIPTEK has taken a fresh approach to digitizers, and has created a hardware/software bundle that provides a compelling reason to switch from a mouse to a tablet.
